Il Vicolo del Bacio was born from the idea of a shopkeeper from Campli, Simonetta Dell'Atti, who, after the earthquake of 30 October 2016, had to move her "Cucilandia" workshop right in that alley, since her previous shop had been rendered unusable by the earthquake.
After her transfer, the people who went to her laboratory stopped to tell and remember together that terrible day when everything suddenly began to shake. In particular, there was a young couple who shared with Simonetta the story of that fateful day: the two engaged couples went to Campli very early to shop in the usual Sunday market when, at 7:36 am, while they were going towards the their car, Campli was hit by that strong earthquake.
A young couple, in a panic, decided to take refuge under the arches of an old building hoping to be sheltered. 'idea of calling that particular place "Il Vicolo del bacio", an alley that protected a frightened young couple of lovers lost along the streets of Campli during a terrible earthquake.
The alley was decorated by Simonetta using recycled materials, and has aroused great interest from tourists and visitors, who go to Campli just to be able to exchange a kiss under the famous arch that kept the young couple safe.
During this pandemic period, the alley of kiss is a message of positivity and recovery, since a mask is not enough to take away the desire to love.
