Palma writes that in ancient times the Camplesian hamlets of “S. Maria ad Campilium " (Campiglio), Pastinella and Masseri formed a single parish. The etymology of Pastinella would derive from "pastina" (land cultivated with vines).
Feudi of Melatino, in the seventeenth century were dismembered and the small Parish Church of S. Maria ad Preces (formerly "ad Pretas") was built. Perhaps built on the remains of a previous one, the new parish incorporated the town of Pastinella and part of the village of Masseri.
Today it looks like a chapel with a bell gable and a single bell on the facade. The portal has a round arch.
