The Cample historian Nicola Palma informs that it was defined "sine animarum cura" (without care of souls), in the Legnature district, bordering the properties of the abbey of SS. Mariano and Giacomo di Nocella, to which it belonged.

Parish already in 1587, owned by Giulio Bellolatte di Fermo, servant of Pope Sixtus V. In 1588, the pontiff annexed it to the new diocese of Montalto Marche (AP). In 1600 it passed under the ecclesiastical jurisdiction of the diocese of Campli and Ortona (CH) established by Clement VIII.
