The small streets of the village of Campli are surrounded by historic buildings, arcades and arcades that enclose buildings, made of warm stone and bricks that refer to ancient times and ancient professions. Among these buildings with a medieval and Renaissance taste are the Casa del Medico and the Loggia dello Speziale.
The Casa del Medico fits, with great elegance, into the context of the romantic streets of the village and dominates the central course with its entrance portal, surmounted by inscriptions in Latin that praise the profession of the once owner of the building, for example Ludovico Lazzarelli, exponent of an important family of doctors who, for generations, distinguished himself in the field of medicine and culture. Opening the door, you find yourself inside the courtyard, surrounded by a double loggia in Marche travertine and bricks, supported by circular columns and finely decorated capitals. The wealth of the owner meant that Tuscan workers made, by hand, every single floral decoration that makes up the columns.
An elegant staircase that starts from the center of the courtyard branches off into two diverging flights that lead to the upper loggia (private houses that cannot be visited). The Casa del Medico is an unmissable location for lovers who want to take a romantic shot with them when they return from their holiday in Campli.
Next to the Casa del Medico, there is the Loggia dello Speziale whose architecture takes us back to the Renaissance age. It is in fact a typical example of an arcaded house, one of the most prominent in the historic center of Campli. The arcade, in front of the entrance to the buildings, was typical of the artisans' workshop house. It allowed you to work outside to set up and sell your goods without exposing them to the atmospheric elements.
Private house, the internal courtyard can be visited by prior arrangement.
