The Campovalano truffle and the Gourmet Festival

The area of the Twin Mountains is rich of one of its finest products: truffles. The Territory of the Laga is one of the mycological-tourist itineraries with the greatest potential in Central Italy. The excellent balance between agricultural landscape and tree cover, combined with the calcareous soil means that the territory is rich in various types of truffles: precious black, white truffle, bianchetto, hooked truffle, muscat and summer scorzone.

In July, if you are near Campli, do not miss the twenty-year appointment with the Campovalano Truffle Festival organized by the Campovalano Viva Association. The gastronomic event attracts all lovers of the precious tuber; the local housewives together with brave chefs propose different menus every evening using imagination and tradition in the preparation of tasty first and second courses.

On the last day of the festival, the Campovalano Viva Association, in collaboration with the Teramo Appennino Tartuficoltori Association (ATAT), organizes the Truffle Dog Race, which attracts many competitors also from outside the region, and the competition "The gold tuber "with final auction.
