The modern hamlet of Campovalano is located at the foot of Foltrone Mountain (Montagna di Campli), along the SS 81 Piceno-Aprutina.
Note for the Italic necropolis. The beautiful Parish Church of St. Peter the Apostle has an early medieval layout, rich in sculptural elements in stone and wood, as well as remarkable frescoes from various eras.
Near Piane di Campovalano the ruins of a mighty watchtower. With a circular base (5 meters in diameter) it has thick walls (60 cm) made from unworked stones joined with mortar. In an alley of the hamlet there is an ancient gafio (vaulted pedestrian passage).
