For those who love the sea and golden sandy beaches, the Teramo coast is certainly a destination not to be missed.
Starting from Campli, through the SP8, we head to Martinsicuro, the first of the “7 sisters”. In this municipality, not only will we be able to take beautiful walks on the seafront caressed by the breeze, but we will be able to admire beautiful historical monuments such as the Torrione di Carlo V which houses the Antiquarium of Castrum Truentium, a museum in which the archaeological finds found during excavations are kept. carried out in the Colle Marzio area. Among the most important and well-known finds we find a Lombard tomb found near the Tronto river in Martinsicuro.
A few kilometers further south, we find Alba Adriatica, a beautiful coastal town, famous for its fine sandy beach also called "Silver Beach ". Covered for its entire length by the cycle path that runs along the seafront, Alba Adriatica is the perfect place to relax with long walks by bike and on foot. Absolutely worth seeing are the beautiful Gentile Villas such as that of Villa Chiarugi, known as "la Favorita" and built in the seventeenth century, or Villa Gianluca Palma, built in a classic nineteenth-century style and surrounded by a large garden, or Villa Zanoni, built in the twentieth century. century and in which there are a mixture of different styles that make this building unique.
Continuing on the Adriatic road we arrive at Tortoreto, an Abruzzo town rich in history, natural beauty and with a wonderful beach that for 24 years has continued to win the Blue Flag. An attraction not to be missed in Tortoreto is the naturalistic Oasis Fonti del Vascello, built around a small artificial lake that hosts a huge variety of flora and fauna species. Those who love history and views should definitely visit Tortoreto Alta, the medieval village that makes up the historic center of Tortoreto. Here you can see the characteristic Clock Tower, visit the Church of the Madonna della Misericordia built in 1348 and the Church of Sant’Agostino which represents one of the greatest examples of religious architecture in Tortoreto. Finally, after a walk through the alleys, you can take a break from the artistic tour by making a stop on the Belvedere di Tortoreto, a panoramic terrace that offers a breathtaking view of the coast.
The journey continues south and, in just 15 minutes we arrive at Giulianova, a city characterized by soft, golden beaches and a turquoise sea. Here, in addition to the beautiful coastline, we recommend visiting the oldest part: Giulianova Alta. In the historic center we can visit the beautiful Church of Santa Maria al Mare, the Sanctuary, the Belvedere and the Cathedral of San Flaviano which, with its marvelous dome, is the symbol of the city.
Following the SS16 we head to Roseto degli Abruzzi, also known as "Lido delle Rose". Roseto is characterized by a long golden beach and crystal clear sea. Those who love nature must absolutely visit the Borsacchio Nature Reserve, a beach surrounded by unspoiled nature, far from the noise of the city, where it is possible to take relaxing baths gently lulled by the waves. Also worth seeing is the medieval village of Montepagano, a fraction of Roseto, here are kept ancient monuments such as the Porta da Borea, the Castle of Montepagano and the church of the Santissima Annunziata.
From Roseto we move to Pineto located a little further south. Pineto owes its name to the beautiful and vast pine forest that runs along the sea and which offers relaxation and refreshment to all tourists. One of the most characteristic places to visit is the Filiani Park which takes its name from the beautiful Villa that we find inside and which houses the Ethnomusicological Center of Abruzzo. Walking through the park we will be able to admire breathtaking views of the crystal clear sea and enjoy the scenic and historical beauties of this town. Also in Pineto we find a wonderful nature reserve: the "Torre del Cerrano" Marine Protected Area. The reserve takes its name from the ancient coastal tower of the Kingdom of Naples, one of the few surviving examples of the structures that were used to repel the attacks of the Turks and Saracens from the sea.
Our journey ends in Silvi, defined, by the Abruzzese poet Gabriele D'annunzio, "the pearl of the Adriatic". Silvi Marina boasts a beach more than 6km long full of accommodation facilities, bathing establishments, and attractions that make it the perfect place to spend a holiday with family or friends. Absolutely worth seeing is the small village of Silvi Paese famous for its characteristic arches at the base of the historic center and for the wonderful viewpoint that offers its visitors a panoramic view of the Adriatic Sea which, on clear days, can go from Giulianova to Pescara and beyond.
